Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, appointed Krešimir Macan as his special adviser for strategic communication.
Macan is not fully employed by the Government, but conducts jobs as needed per Plenković’s order. He was appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Government Act, or more precisely Article 23, which states, inter alia, that for the purpose of establishing the state of affairs, developing strategic development plans and analyses, preparing proposals and coordinating the implementation of individual projects from the Government’s program, and for certain issues of permanent or occasional nature, the Prime Minister may appoint special advisers or form task groups and appoint members.
Krešimir Macan is the founder and CEO of the Manjgura PR agency, specializing in crisis communication, strategic communication in politics and new social media. During his career, he worked at the then Ministry of Information at the time of the Homeland War in the 1990s, he was advisor to Prime Minister Ivica Račan and HRT spokesman, and has also led election campaigns for several Croatian politicians. He was born on 15 February, 1970 in Dubrovnik.
His appointment followed the Government’s session on 28 December 2017, which abolished the decision from 2012 which prohibited state administration bodies, legal entities with public authorities and other legal entities established by the state, and the companies in which the state is majority owner, to engage PR experts or agencies.
