Balticbest creative competition is the only creative competition especially targeted to small countries – such as Adriatic and Baltic countries. Balticbest organisers will share some ideas, news and views with the readers of Media Marketing this Summer. In the first story we offer some creative ideas from Estonia and Latvia.
Estonian national creative competition Kuldmuna (Golden Egg) received a record-high number of almost 1,000 entries this Summer, the Latvian national competition Adwards received 253 entries.
Two Grand Prix awards were awarded at Estonian Kuldmuna (Golden Egg) competition this year. The first one went to WRC Rally Estonia / Estonian Autosport Events for Rally Estonia 2020 event.
Rally is truly a national sport of Estonia. Estonian racer Ott Tänak won the WRC driver’s championship trophy 2019 and the Estonian nation is literally crazy for the rally.
In 2020, a World Rally Championships (WRC) was organized in Estonia for the first time in history.
The rally was organized during the pandemic with several restrictions. Regardless of that, the event turned out really well, it was broadcasted via TV and digital media channels to 740 Million viewers globally.
The second Grand Prix in Estonia was given to Unt & Co design studio for Aether Audio Eyewear design.
Aether synthesizes refined eyewear design with innovative audio technology for a next-gen listening experience.
Aether emerged from a vision shared by three specialists in product design, brand development, and creative direction. Identifying a gap in the global market, we set out to channel our expertise into pushing the boundaries of audio technology and high-end eyewear design.
As an independent brand formed of an international team of designers, engineers, and creative minds, Aether evolved from concept to finished product through an extensive prototyping process, driven by an obsession for details and a perfectionist streak.
In the Latvian national competition Adwards there was no Grand Prix, but double gold has been awarded to the campaign “Be our Soros” (Alise Zariņa, Dana Jurkjāne, client – Satori).
„Be our Soros” is a cheeky fundraising campaign for Latvia’s leading online culture magazine “Satori,” which aims to promote civic engagement and popularize donations to independent media. It also pokes fun at the popular conspiracy theory that George Soros is backing liberal media to push personal agendas.
All the campaign materials played on the conspiracy look and feel and were widely shared on social media. The main driving force of the campaign was the more than a dozen unscripted interview videos we set up with real “Satori” supporters and two actors playing conspiracy journalists.
The goal was to show that the only people independent media depends on are their readers and supporters. With that, the public took matters into their own hands by becoming an army of tiny Soroses and helping to secure the fundraising goal in just 5 days. At the end of the 2-week campaign, we got almost double the donations expected, making it a record-breaking fundraising campaign for “Satori“.
The agency McCANN Riga received the gold award in the category of “Interactive and digital solutions” and in “Interactive campaigns” with the campaign “Fake Fake News” (client – the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia).
The deadline for Balticbest entries is August 16th. All Balticbest Gold winners will enter the EPICA Awards for free. More info at www.balticbest.eu
