The Croatian Forests every year warns of the dangers of fire, however, not a single summer goes by without us witnessing battles with blazes in which everyone participate – from firefighters to locals, tourists, foresters, fans, volunteers from all sides … but when it comes to battle it’s already often too late.
Driven by the idea that the only fire extinguished in time is a fire prevented, Croatian Forests decided to invest funds in an advanced monitoring and alarming system that would help timely recognize the risk of fire. The system consists of 90 state-of-the-art cameras and 320 additional observers that will be deployed to the most vulnerable forest areas.
However, even with all that technology, the Croatian Forests emphasize that every pair of eyes in the forest is extremely important. Because 7 million eyes see a lot more than all the official cameras.
This was the idea behind the new media campaign created by the Imago Ogilvy agency for the Croatian Forests, under the slogan ‘Look around you and save the forest’.
In addition to TV spots and printed materials, the most interesting feature is the Youtube video that, thanks to the 360 camera, brings us in a simulated fire site together with 30 firefighters from the State Fire Departments from Dubrovnik, Split, Šibenik and Zadar…
Check out what it looks like when you find yourself in a middle of the firefighting frenzy in the interactive video below.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever been on a briefing where a client didn’t ask for a 360 campaign. And now we’ve finally made it – a first true 360 campaign in Croatia. I’m just kidding, but it’s one thing to watch a fire on TV, and something completely different when thanks to technology you find yourself almost in the center of firestorm, and feel the part of that atmosphere. Then you start to look at the problem a bit differently. In this way, we have given the user the opportunity to experience the slogan ‘Look around you’ quite literally, and feel it. We hope everybody who watches the video will look around themselves in nature at least once, because maybe he or she can save the forest,” explains Igor Mladinovic, Creative Director at Imago Ogilvy.
“Since the last year was marked by a large number of summer fires, Croatian Forests invested more resources and effort this year to engage the general public and stimulate them to preventive action because, unfortunately, there are still irresponsible people who, due to negligence often unintentionally create the conditions for a fire. With this campaign, we wanted to encourage every individual to act, because we can all contribute to the fight against fire by our responsible behavior,” said Igor Fazekaš, Member of the Board of Croatian Forests.
