PREORDERS FOR iPHONE X START TODAY, AND APPLE IS IN SOME BIG TROUBLES
Pre-orders for probably the most sought-after device in the past years – Apple’s iPhone X – have started, with starting prices of $999 for a 64GB memory model in the US, and 1179 euros in Germany for the same model.
However, the problem is not the price, but something else. There is a real possibility that the vast majority of interested parties will not be able to get their devices for at least a few months. For weeks there have been rumors that Apple faces huge production difficulties, and will almost certainly not have enough phones for the holiday season. The problem was allegedly due to the excessive sophistication of the face recognition system, or the so-called TrueDepth camera.
According to Wall Street analysts, published by Bloomberg, Apple tried to tackle this by telling its subcontractors discreetly to tone down a bit the rigorous accuracy of the face recognition system, making it easier to produce. Always trustworthy Ming-Chi Kuo from the KGI Securities predicts that Apple will have only 2 to 3 million copies of the iPhone X on the rollout date, and between 25 and 30 million pieces for the entire holiday season, which paints a very bad picture for Apple.
YOU OFTEN USE GROUP CHAT? WHATSAPP HAS SOME GOOD NEWS FOR YOU
The popular messaging app is introducing a novelty that will appeal to users, but also facilitate daily communication.
WhatsApp obviously slowly plans to introduce voice and video calls into group chat. Now it’s possible to call individuals through the app, but voice and video calls are reserved exclusively for one-to-one conversations.
In other words, there is currently no option to add new people to the conversation. Another Facebook app, the Facebook Messenger, allows group calls, but it seems that this feature works much better in applications like WhatsApp, where the purity of the signal is much better (tportal)
