These days the region was shook by the news that Sarajevska pivara, in cooperation with agency Gotiva, shamelessly copied the ad for Mattoni water of the company KMV (Karlovarské minerální vody) in the ad for water Lejla. Organizers of the SEMPL media trends conference asked Joa la Pompe, who for many years has been discovering plagiarists from around the world, regardless of whether they are local or global brands, and publishes news of them on his blog.
Joe says that, in his opinion, none of the ideas, neither the Mattoni nor the Lejla one, are new, let alone original. In 2009, La Pompe posted the Mattoni TV ad on his blog because it irresistibly resembled the Gisele Bündchen footwear ad. A similar ad has already been seen from Evian water in Japan, models were dressed in similar way previously in Belgium (Levis Paints) and France (Les Décoratives). All of these examples can be found below:
Did Gotiva and Sarajevska pivara really blatantly copied the ‘original’ KMV’s idea for Mattoni water? You be the judge. And Joe will tell us how much more originality is left in the advertising world live, at this year’s Sempl.
