MILLION EUROS FOR TOP BUSINESS IDEAS
“Catch Pitch Challenge 2016” conference, at which one million euros will be granted to the best business ideas from across the region, opened yesterday at the Jugoslovenska Kinoteka in Belgrade. By 29 September, German investors will watch the presentations of the best among more than 800 applied business projects from 32 countries. Most submitted projects were in the field of IT, then service and business development, agriculture and natural resources, as well as health.

German Ambassador in Serbia Axel Dittmann said at the opening of the conference that the development of the Serbian economy is crucial for sustainable development and that Serbia and Germany have been working on that since 2000. Dittmann noted that there are more than 300 German investors operating in Serbia, who have created more than 30,000 jobs in this country. Dejan Jocić, founder of Foundcenter Investment, said that the interest of entrepreneurs with ideas was great, which shows that the region has potential, but also noted that small markets can be an obstacle. President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Marko Čadež on this occasion promised support of the SCC to start-ups, adding that “it was fully expected that the greatest number of entries will be in the field of IT technologies and agriculture, because these are the industries of the future in the entire region.”
In addition to the presentations of final projects, during the conference there will be panel discussions at which local and foreign experts from various fields will talk with entrepreneurs about development potentials of Southeast Europe, as well as the challenges that modern technology brings for businesses.
