What gift do you give to a creative? Well, it takes a creative to know that. And every creative knows that awful feeling when you a creative block hits, and seems insurmountable at the moment. And they also all know how frustrating (and unproductive) it is to stare at a blank piece of paper. That’s why the agency Señor designed a special notebook to help overcome that obstacle.
unBLOK helps his owner both when ideas are pouring in, and when they completely dry out. Amongst the hundred or so blank pages, unBLOK contains pages with tasks designed to help break the creative blockage that affects even the best creatives. Unexpected assignments will encourage a creative process – a process much more important than the end results. No matter if you’re doing them during a break, a night before a deadline or during an endless meeting – you should forget about limitations, self-control, self-censorship, shame, comparison or any other well-known enemies of creativity. The only person you should be trying to impress is – yourself! Don’t worry, there are no correct answers. While contemplating possible solutions you will confront your limitations, both real and self-imposed, and discover your creative potential. And that’s how your creative block will be – blocked.
Though primarily intended as a gift to clients, colleagues and associates – a gift that will communicate how Señor creates in a creative, functional and problem-solving manner – it has stirred interest beyond the industry, so today it can be found in several specialized stores in Zagreb. For these reasons, the English version was also designed to enable unBLOK to travel outside from Zagreb and to creatively unblock tourists, friends from abroad and colleagues around the world.
Señor notes that one of the main ideas of the project is to show how any task can have limitless number of solutions. That is why all owners of the unBLOK are encouraged to tear out the papers with their works, and send them to Señor. At the end of the year, agency will organise an exhibition and Blok Party, showcasing all the work. Works won’t be graded or criticized, as the goal is to get inspired with different views and approaches.
