Apart from the central exhibition at the Museum of Architecture and Design, BIO 26 – Design Biennial will also present six major experimental projects, which will be created for BIO 26 by multidisciplinary groups under the mentorship of six prominent designers.
The groups will be selected through the process of design marathon (designaton), and besides the showing at the Museum, the final projects will also be presented in the institutions with which the Museum cooperates and are involved in the production and transfer of knowledge. These are museums, libraries, university, media houses, botanical garden and the homes for the elderly.
The first design marathon will be held from May 17th to 19th in the Ljubljana Modern Gallery (Cankarjeva 15). During these days, select media representatives will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the work process, to meet and talk with mentors and members of the jury of BIO 26, including Deyan Sudjic, director of the London Design Museum, Johnny Golding, professor of philosophy and art and a senior mentor in the field of research at the Royal College of Art in London, Amelie Klein, curator at the Vitra Design Museum in the German city of Weill on Rhine, Maja Vardjan, curator at the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana and Aleš Pustovrh, professor and economist who deals with new forms of innovation within his research work.
