A girl walking through shallow water, fast cut to horses running, fast cut back to the girl who is now under a waterfall, suddenly a huge diamond covers the entire screen… that would be your generic perfume ad.
But things are starting to change. The cryptic storytelling is still the main element of perfume ads, but now brands are taking it to a whole new level. After Kenzo’s brilliant film by Spike Jonze last year, now we have another marvelous example in Miss Dior ad starring wonderful Natalie Portman.
The theme of Portman’s spot is love, and what you are willing to do for it.
This emotional cinematic piece that showcases the ups and downs of a love story, set to Sia’s “Chandelier”, already has over 30 million views on YouTube, and judging from the comments, many of the viewers would love to see this ad as a feature-length movie.
Check out the video below as well to hear Portman’s own take on the ad and the Miss Dior perfume.
