Direct Media has won the traditional annual recognition Award for Corporate Volunteering in the category Most Successful Partnerships in Local Community for their volunteer program of empowerment and socialization of women and children in the Safe House in Belgrade.
This three-and-a-half month program, implemented in cooperation with the Domestic Violence Counseling Center, was attended by 40 women employed in Direct Media and eight external partners.
Award for corporate volunteering is presented annually by the Forum for Responsible Business, which is an official partner of the organization CSR Europe for Serbia and Smart Collective, with the aim to recognize and promote the best volunteer practices in companies.
“Employees in Direct Media understand the importance of supporting the community, and this time they showed it by their efforts to help victims of violence. For years we successfully cooperate with a large number of clients and the media, and we invest our knowledge and skills in pro bono work with many organizations and associations. We see the success of all of our partnerships through the relationships marked by mutual trust and joint creation of positive changes, which is why we thank all our partners on this project,” said Milica Marković, Corporate Communications Manager at Direct Media.
Within the program of volunteering, women employed in Direct Media on every Saturday from June to October spent some time in the Safe House, organizing creative and stimulating workshops for empowerment and socialization of women and children victims of violence. Upon completion of the program, Direct Media has helped the reconstruction of three safe houses in Belgrade, took over the financing of free legal aid for women victims of violence in 2016, and hired one ward of the Safe House.
The award for corporate volunteering was presented this year in six categories. The winners were decided by a jury made up of representatives of state institutions, companies, NGOs and international organizations, and the awards were presented at a ceremony in the framework of the CSR Forum 2015, a conference dedicated to corporate social responsibility.
