Eight Golden Awards and the Grand Prix award were awarded at the fourteenth competition at the regional Sempler Awards competition. Slovenian creative agency Luna\TBWA won the Grand Sempler, the highest award of this year’s Sempler competition for the best media strategy of the year, with their campaign “Laško Duel“, which was created and executed for Pivovarna Laško Union.

In the communication campaign “Laško Duel“, the beer Laško Zlatorog became the main prize in an epic duel. Father and son, Slovenian actors Boris and Sebastian Cavazza, battled in rhymes for the last bottle of this beer in a series of TV and online ads, and the supporters of one or the other could vote for their favorite (or rhymes which received double votes) on the website www.dvoboj.si.

“Among all the entries in competition, the winning campaign in the most comprehensive and very relevant way touched the key touchpoints on the way to the consumer, that must be covered by each media strategy,” said Nikola Bubanj, the president of the jury and Managing Director of Grey Adriatic & Grey Balkans. He adds that members of the jury were unanimous in choosing the best campaigns, which, in their view, reflect the best of media strategies in the region.

Agency Luna\TBWA also received a Golden Sempler Award in the category of strategic use of the media mix for the campaign “Laško Duel”, while for the first time a campaign from Bosnia and Herzegovina received the golden award in the category of innovative use of communication channel. The project “Museum of Public Procurement” was created by the advertising agency Via Media from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and with it they wanted to draw public attention to non-transparent and unreasonable government wasting of taxpayers’ money.

Golden Award in the category the best targeted campaign was awarded to campaign “Scratch with a reason”, which was prepared in Croatian creative agency BBDO Zagreb and in media agency Pragma Communications for the beer brand Ožujsko. It was an awareness-raising campaign calling the men’s attention to the importance of self-examination for the prevention of testicular cancer.

Slovenian agency Grey won two gold awards for the campaign “Cancer Bra”, created for the underwear brand Palmers, namely in the category of the best experiential campaign and in the category of the best new media/media format. Also in this case, the campaign was awareness-raising in which women trying the bra with uncomfortable lump in Palmers store were encouraged to regularly self-examine their breasts.

In the category of the best use of the digital world the Golden Sempler was awarded to the campaign “Wing of Love”, which was created by the Croatian agency Imago Ogilvy for the water brand Jana. In the campaign, which was this year already awarded at the festivals of creativity Cannes Lions, Golden Drum, and Epica, a pair of storks, which met again after a year, was monitored on the website.

The Golden Sempler in the category of best social media campaign was awarded to the Serbian agency Universal Media, which prepared for The Coca-Cola Company the campaign “Fanta Yasserstain Case”, and in the category of the best use of the mobile winner was the mobile application DRAJV of Zavarovalnica Triglav. The Golden Sempler was not awarded in the category of the best use of data.

In addition to the Grand Sempler and eight Golden Semplers, two special TOP SEMPL awards were awarded at the evening ceremony at the end of the first day of the 18th media trends conference SEMPL. Marko Kolbl, the director of Europlakat and founder of Hitradio Center and Rock Radio, won the award for Media Manager in 2016, and Juna Neubauer, the media planner in the agency Grey Ljubljana won the award for the Future Media Star.
