Lazar Bošković, one of PRO PR Globe Awards winners, gave the unusual answer to PRO PR Conference organizers about the future of communication industry after pandemic COVID-19:
“What does the DIAGNOSIS say? It seems that our beloved PR also got a little infected during the pandemic, so the following diseases of the public relations system appeared in public communication:
- spinning, crazy rejoicing (Spinus Covidus)
- false humanitarian boasting (Egos Tripus)
- unprofessional submission to false authorities (Shlihtarium Vulgaris)
- ignorance, laziness and confusion in crisis communication of large systems (Dunsteromania)
- non-response to violations of the code of professional communication (NoCashFobia)
What is the THERAPY? After the pandemic, the PR industry must urgently work on internal and external disinfection of communications. Sometimes on rodent control. Let’s not lie – all this happened in times without a pandemic, but now it has taken on serious and dangerous proportions.
Who can provide the therapy? Conscientious and professional individuals, who are not nodding to the political and financial oligarchy. Who can’t (won’t) do that? Members of (para)political and (semi)secret organizations and their favorite media, which are part of the machinery for fooling the public.
How to separate these two types of people? Well, that’s a crucial issue for the recovery of PR after a pandemic. Not only for PR, but also for the mental healing of the communication of the whole society. If the PR industry continues according to the old model (money and interest are more important than meaning and humanity), the pandemic brought us nothing!”
