Promising young talents of Croatia’s communication industry, Martina Ukić and Ana Tavić from Studio Sonda, will represent Croatia at the international festival Cannes Young Lions.
They won the Grand Prix and the Gold Award at the Young Lions Croatia competition in the Design category, with their project minimize.
The Young Lions Croatia competition for young professionals younger than 30 is organized within the framework of the Days of Communication festival, and its added value comes from its humanitarian character.
Namely, the task of the competition is to come up with a creative solution for a civil society organization, that will be given the winning works free of charge. This year, it is the international non-profit organization Zero Waste Europe.
Design, Digital, PR, Media and Print are the five categories in which participants could compete.
The first place in the category Design was won by Martina Ukić and Ana Tavić from Studio Sonda. Best in the category Digital were Matej Brnardić and Ana Žužić from Degordian. In the PR category, first place went to Mia Bušić and Anamarija Virant Sadiković, also from Degordian. The best in Media category were Tea Šubat and Barbara Sabo from the agency Imago Ogilvy. First place was not given in the Print category, and the second went to Iva Pemper and Ana Pogačić of Imago Ogilvy.
Zero Waste Europe is a non-profit organization that links companies, universities and associations that work to reduce waste in Europe. The organization was created to encourage communities to think about resource usage.
The organization operates on two levels: it supports local groups that can make the change more efficient and present it at European Union level.
CEO of Zero Waste Europe, Joan Marc Simon said: “I thank HURA for including us in the Young Lions project, but also all the contestants who have invested their time and effort to solve the brief. We were pleasantly surprised and honoured when we received a request for co-operation. The quality of the work surprised us and it was a real pleasure to take part in the voting. We believe that this type of competition is beneficial to all parties – young talents and agencies, as well as organizations that want their voice to be heard further.”
The winning team won a prize of HRK 45,000.00 (€ 6,000) – i.e. costs of participation at the world’s biggest creativity competition in Cannes, where they will represent Croatia.
