There is a new wave of marketing in development that could potentially change the landscape of business and commerce. This type of marketing involves artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is a series of programming and algorithms that emulates aspects of human behaviour. AI has been theorized and worked on for many years; it is only recently however that this technology is truly emerging and seeing a greater use in society. AI enhanced marketing is the latest technology that companies such as Netflix, Starbucks, Google, and Facebook are utilizing.
To understand exactly what AI enhanced marketing/business is, we can look at a handful of current examples. Electronics and multimedia giant Apple, for example, utilizes a myriad of different AI enhanced technologies to improve customer experiences. Its iPhones and iPads utilize facial recognition technology, for example, and the Apple Store uses deep AI learning in order to detect fraudulent activities. Another really interesting example of artificial intelligence being used to improve customer service is Lowe’s Home Improvement. Since sometime last year, Lowe’s has actually started implementing robots that patrol around their physical stores and provide assistance to customers that need it.
As you will see in the infographic below, there are many more examples of enhancements using artificial intelligence. It can be used to complete tasks in mere seconds that a human would take hours and even days to complete. Detailed statistical analysis of user activity, for example, would take hours to comb through – AI technology can achieve the same results in a fraction of time. In short, AI technology can improve productivity, a higher level of efficiency, and allow businesses to perform a more complex level of market research.
