TGA? Billy Hopkin? For many people, these words probably don’t ring a bell. Or at least it was like that – until yesterday.
From yesterday, the Christmas lights of Seven Dials in Covent Garden are driven by the heartbeat of Billy Hopkin, a 2 year old heart patient. They will flicker in time with his heartbeat, for 24 hours during December, to remind shoppers of the thousands of children like Billy, who miss the magic of Christmas due to heart conditions.
By now, many people surely know that TGA stands for Transposition of the Great Arteries, serious heart condition where the two main blood vessels leaving the heart are swapped over. And that Billy Hopkin is a toddler suffering this disease, and that he is not the only one. And that everyone who wants to help these children, can donate this holiday season to charity “Tiny Tickers”.
The campaign was created by Golin London team led by creative director Alex Woods, in support of “Tiny Tickers” which wanted to help shine a light on the babies and children who will be in hospital over the Christmas holidays, so that they can join in with celebrations.
Watch the video below to meet Billy and see what it looks like when London is enlightened by toddler’s heartbeats.
