Skoda has launched a new ad that many can identify with, and the result is hilariously self-mocking and we must say, to the point. Acne, mullets, bad style choices and the iconic music paint a fairly accurate picture of the 90s, but with a twist in the end that is Skoda’s message to all those who still like to drag out the ugliness of its 90s car designs – you were probably pretty ugly then too, the auto brand reminds us.
The ad was created by Rosapark agency from France, who really made sure that the whole vibe of the spot just oozes the feel of the nineties, from images in the spot, music, to the very style of filming.
In the end though, Skoda vividly shows how much their design team has grown since, destroying the arguments of all the critics still stuck in the 90s in their minds.
The unique and self-deprecating nature of the ad aims to strengthen the brand’s position as a ‘game-changer’ in the French market saturated with typical auto creative.
The ad titled ‘Moche Dans Les 90s’ (‘Ugly in the 90s’) rolls out on digital channels, and Twitter users will be able to send a photo of themselves or their friends to Skoda and be presented with a 90s-fied profile picture.
