The second edition of RSVP, the only regional festival specialized exclusively for the event industry, was held in Zagreb’s Plaza Event Center (ex. Hypo Event Center) on Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 and 8 February 2017, and has attracted more than 500 event professionals and representatives of industries related to the organization of events. The two day program was devoted to technologies that make organization of events easier, and the event tourism. All this was covered through 18 lectures and 2 round tables, as well as 6 workshops where participants could learn more about individual segments of event organization.
The participants had the chance to hear the success stories of positioning the Netherlands as one of the leading destinations when it comes to business events, and Bratislava which has successfully developed conference tourism. At the round table How to place Croatia on the map of event organizers, panelists commented that Croatia should not be afraid of mega events because only through practice it is possible to master all the complexity of such events. They also touched on regulations related to the hosting of foreign artists and pointed out that it is good as it is significantly simpler than abroad, providing the country income from events.
RSVP also saw its first Attend awards, awarded in 8 categories and the honorary category The Best Event. In this first year of awards 102 events were registered, and were assessed by a five-member independent jury consisting of: Dan Walsh, UK PR expert, James Morgan, co-founder of SharedXP that has developed technology that enables the organizers to collect ideas from the audience for upcoming events, Mary Kirillova, event organizer and founder of the first website for employment of event professionals, Joe Buckhurst of Group Dynamics, which develops technologies for events, and Snežana Subotić, founder of the agency Prototip Events.
This year they were joined by Ivan Lijović as a representative of the organizers, and from next year the international jury will be joined by representative of Visualia festival, this year’s winner of honorary category The Best Event. In the category of The Best B2B/B2C/Internal Event, winner was the project FM World 12th Anniversary organized by the Macedonian company Duna.
The best event in presenting a product or service was John Jameson Secret Event, realized by the agency Komunikacijski Laboratorij from Croatia. In the category of Best congress / conference / fair jury chose the 10th Combis Conference organized by the Croatian company Combis. The best sporting event was the Final 4 SEHA – Gazprom League organized by the Croatian company SEHA. The best musical event was Fresh Island, of the Croatian company A4. The best cultural event was Visualia Festival that was designed and set up by the association Sonitus from Pula, Croatia. The best non-profit / community service event was Brave New World, produced by HUB385 and CityOS. The best online event was Fashion.hr Viber campaign organized by the company FHR (RED agency).
In the Expo area participants could get to see the best equipment that is changing the event world. SD7 digital console had its regional premiere at the RSVP festival, and participants also had a chance to see the MLA Mini sound system from Martin Audio and Robe BMFL Spot light equipment. These technologies were demonstrated live, by bands Vatra on Tuesday, and Parni Valjak on Wednesday.
