The Reporting Assembly of the Croatian Public Relations Association was held in Zagreb. President of the Association, Ana Tkalac Verčič, pointed out the importance of cooperation within the trade, underlying the importance of mutual support of colleagues coming from the public and private sector. Vice President of HUOJ, Andreja Barberić, recalled the successful projects in 2017, and that especially important activity for HUOJ was publishing of two important titles: Public Relations by Ana Tkalac Verčič, the book that represents the first university textbook from this area, and the manual by Ermina Duraj, Relationships with media in local and regional self-government in Croatia.
The financial statement of the HUOJ was also presented, which was approved by the Supervisory Board of the Association, led by President Vlatka Škorić. The members of the association agreed that the operational costs of the association should be maintained regularly, in order for HUOJ to function smoothly, and this is achieved through constant projects and activities that attract new members.
The president of the Court of Honor, Andreja Pavlović, commented that in 2017 there were no significant interventions or ethical controversies in the PR industry and stressed that this HUOJ body has had a calm year behind it. Andreja Pavlovic also reffered to ethics in public relations with the aim of carrying out more research on this topic, so that new generations can better understand ethics in public relations and avoid many problems.
The Assembly concluded with the presentation of the results of survey on satisfaction and expectations of current and former members. The results were presented by Mateja Terek, in cooperation with the psychologists from the Behave agency. The research gave insight into members’ preferences, highlighted what projects they like, what kind of communication they prefer and what their expectations are from HUOJ.
The results of the research represent the motivation for all in HUOJ to continue with the projects that have been positively assessed, and to remedy all the observed errors, so that the overall membership would become (more) active and motivated to raise the bar of the work, primarily for the association, and then the profession in general.
