After the seventh Shift Dev conference was successfully held this year in Split, where over 1300 IT experts from all over the world gathered, the team behind the conference has no intention to slow down or stop. Along with the development, they are now entering the waters of financial tech through the organization of a new conference, which will, along with the Split Shift, be held annually under the name Shift Money.
The rapid growth of fintech and its impact on traditional financial services are currently shaking the foundation of the entire industry and completely altering the way we think about them. It can be said that this is a re-emergence of the startup hype. However, these startups are focused on financial technology, but because of the magnitude of the industry, the hype seems justifiably massive. New technologies, such as cryptocurrencies and mobile banking, have led the industry to quickly adapt and reconsider the role of traditional money.
Over two days of discussions, Shift Money will bring together representatives of the most important companies and professionals from all sectors of the FinTech industry who will talk about the future of money. On stage, ideas and experiences will be presented by over 50 leading industry experts who will talk about blockchain, cryptocurrencies, ICOs, and new payment methods. Some of the experts are coming from companies like Barclays, The Economist, PayPal, Lloyds Bank, BBVA, Coinbase and many others.
Some of the speakers are:
Robert Wiecko is COO at Dash Core Group Inc., a company responsible for development of Dash – payments-focused digital currency. Robert manages the company infrastructure operations, projects portfolio, quality assurance and customer support..
Pavel Matveev is the CEO and co-founder of Wirex Ltd. – an industry-leading blockchain payments platform that integrates both fiat and cryptocurrencies. Pavel has over 15 years of experience in software development and IT management. He has worked with Barclays Capital, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse.
Helen Joyce stepped into the role of editor of The Economist’s finance section in March 2018. Her previous jobs for the paper were International editor (January 2014-February 2018), Brazil correspondent (July 2010-December 2013) and education correspondent (from July 2005). She has a PhD in mathematics and a strong background in data journalism, and is interested in social, political and economic developments in emerging markets.
In addition to these experts, 10 start-ups from the FinTech world will get the opportunity to present their ideas in front of the jury, investors and journalist, and convince them that they can have the most impact on the financial technology industry. Four best teams will present their startups on the second day of the conference, and the best of them will take the title of the winner of the Shift Money Challenge 2018.
Within the vast expo area of Lauba in Zagreb, more than 100 companies from the FinTech world will find their place. Banks and large companies will be present together with smaller, new companies and startups. Their combination will provide an objective overview of the new technologies in FinTech and their potential.
All this makes the conference an ideal place to find new partners, solutions and contacts. Shift Money will be held on November 26 and 27 at the Lauba exhibition space in Zagreb. More information, as well as conference tickets, can be found on the official website money.shiftconf.co.
