A couple of days ago Samizdat B92 publishing house published the book Mali saveti za bolji život (Small Tips for a Better Life) written by Milena Trobozić Garfield. The book was exclusively promoted at the Belgrade Book Fair.
You had the chance to meet Milena on our portals Media Marketing and Art&Business, for which she writes great columns, especially for Art&Business, where she writes about sponsorship in culture and art.
This is what Dr. Milena Dragićević Šešić, professor of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, had to say about the book.
Book by our well-known theater and film producer, PR expert and actress Milena Trobozić Garfield presents a collage of her thoughts, texts from the blogosphere, but also very authentic testimonies related to her many professions – or lives, as she calls them.
A number of texts are devoted to television, film, theater and advertising, and are connected through thoughts about the audience and one special question: How to win them? That is essentially the key issue of cultural management today, one which should be given much greater importance in theory, and especially in practice. Numerous paragraphs in this useful book are devoted to the issues of everyday practice – they mainly deal with the changes brought by the digital revolution. All this takes place on route from Belgrade to Washington, as we discover what has disappeared with the new technological knowledge, and what will always live on, and how will it adjust its identity to the altered reality.
Small tips for a better life are also based on essayist, blog-diary contemplations, ie. passages from the life of modern women, and the American look-alike trend… Special attention is given to the loss of good neighborly relations in the light of Western manners, behind which are rarely sincere wishes, characteristics and intentions.
These are just some of the questions that Milena Garfield examines in an exciting and original way. The style is personal and goes ranging from academic to journalistic … With this intimate book of advice from own experience, Milena Garfield does not aim for a self-help bestseller, she introduces us with great fervor to the world of transfer of grand theatrical spectacles, but also reminds us of how synergistic processes can occur when and if there is good strategic planning in the approach to the money flows.
Bearing in mind the importance of cultural and educational – and, why not, fun and informative – contribution of this book, written by all criteria of the spirit of time, I wholeheartedly recommend it to readers.
The book costs 880 dinars (€7), and can be ordered at this link.
