Mitja Petrovič, president of the jury of the 27th SOF says that he can identify with the slogan of this year’s festival: We Celebrate Creativity, We Celebrate Work. After years of recession this slogan challenges the creative industry to reconsider its current role and the one they want to have in building successful brands in the future.
“In the past, this role was often very important and active, and our profession was appropriately respected. I believe our task is to use our talents and knowledge for the good of the clients and the people we are persuading on their behalf. To use the thought of the famous Amir Kassei: ‘Let’s look for the relevant human truth, present it in a fresh and surprising way, and it will touch people’,” said Mitja Petrovič, independent consultant in the field of market communication, for Marketing Magazine. According to him, ideas born this way have the power to move people, and when you move people, you move business. That’s why he believes that it is the right time and that this year’s SOF will be able to search for topics and highlight the work that deserves it.
Petrovič believes this year’s advertising crop was richer in production terms. “In addition to tactical advertising, we see more and more product, strategic, and ‘image’ campaigns. It will be interesting to see what’s happening in the field of experiential and content marketing where we miss out on many things because we are not the target audience. Slovenian advertising is more and more successful at international festivals, so it is quite possible that this year’s harvest will reveal a candidate for a Cannes Lion,” said Mitja Petrovič optimistically.
