Professional Women’s Network Zagreb is being founded as the 26th organization of the global association that promotes the excellence of women and men under the slogan “Advancing the way we work. Together.”
Amit the launch of Professional Women’s Network association (PWN Zagreb), on Wednesday, at 18:00h at the DoubleTree by Hilton, a launch event will be held where founders of this organization will present the largest global network to promote excellence of women and men, as well as plans for the first year of operation of the PWN Zagreb branch.
PWN was launched in 2003 in Paris with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of the topic of gender equality, and promotion of women in the business world. It currently has branches in 20 countries across Europe, America and the Middle East. Over 3,500 members of 90 nationalities act through city branches, and PWN Zagreb became the twenty-sixth city network. “At PWN, we believe that men and women together raise the level of business and enable professional advancement of women, but also enable better business results for companies,” said Marijana Šarolić Robic, president of PWN Zagreb.
“Numerous studies show a direct link between gender diversity in company boards with business indicators. A survey conducted by Credit Suisse from 2008 to 2012 on a sample of 2,360 companies showed that during the five years of the study the companies with at least one female member in the board of directors had a 26% higher stock price relative to the companies without women board members. The differences are especially pronounced since the outbreak of the global crisis of 2008,” said one of the founders, Dijana Sušac.
“Inspired by the mission of PWN Global, ‘Advancing the way we work. Together’, for Zagreb PWN we have the vision of ‘A world where talent is the only criteria’,” said one of the founders, Hajdi Ćenan, and added: “We encourage discussion on the topic of equal opportunities and encourage decision-makers, when looking for the best person for the team, especially in managerial positions in management boards, without prejudice and deliberately consider the talents of both women and men – for the benefit of the team and for the benefit of the company.”
“In our work through the PWN Zagreb, we will focus on three themes. The first is a mentoring program in which PWN Global has an excellent experience and programs. The second focus is the engaged men program – an active role of men in advocating equality in the business environment. The third area will be the executive forum – the promotion of successful business stories of women in management positions, stimulating discussion and raising awareness of the importance of the topic of representation of women in the business world with the aim of strengthening and empowering women for leading executive functions,” Katarina Sabol explained the plans of the PWN.
“Our members are women, men and legal persons. We want to promote our objectives and actively implement the best global practices and knowledge in the field of gender equality, in cooperation with existing organizations with similar activities and with other stakeholders such as employers, trade associations and public authorities. We will try to give each of our events an international character, and include active participation of both women and men,” added Nadja Schaps Horvat, also one of the founders.
PWN Zagreb offers its members six annual thematic events and access to global PWN events – over 600 of them per year in 27 cities in the world. Members also enter into networking with the existing members of other sister organizations of PWN Global – more than 3,500 of them worldwide.
