Sea Hero Quest has entered the inner circle of the prestigious European award for public relations, the European Excellence Awards. This project is implemented in Croatia by the Croatian Telekom, and is one of the five nominees in three categories: Communications Team of the Year, Brand Relationship and Multi-Market Communications.
Through the mobile game Sea Hero Quest, which the Croatian Telecom is conducting in Croatia in partnership with the Croatian Association for Alzheimer’s Disease, members of Deutsche Telekom Group joined forces to set a new standard in the study of dementia, which currently inflicts 47 million people worldwide.
So far Sea Hero Quest has been played by almost 2.5 million people around the world, who thus created the first globally relevant database on human orientation in space, which is considered a key step in the development of new diagnostic tools for early detection of dementia. Thus, the world’s largest study of dementia was created.
“Technology must always serve people, and when used in the field of health and helping in the study of diseases affecting large numbers of people, then it is our duty to give it the greatest possible contribution. The entire Group has invested a lot of time and effort in this project, because we consider it extremely important for the whole society. The results broke all records, scientists have their hands full, and the next step in the project is the use of the game in the early diagnosis of dementia, as well as in the treatment of the disease and to test the effectiveness of drugs,” said Nina Išek Međugorac, Director of Corporate Communications at HT.
The main goal of Sea Hero Quest, which can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store and Google Play, is to create the world’s largest database for dementia research, by comparing human orientation in space. Such a database will help scientists to study dementia, finding the causes of the disease and thus adequate therapy.
Sea Hero Quest app was developed for the Deutsche Telekom by Saatchi&Saatchi, with great contribution of the Macedonian branch.
European Excellence Awards is the competition of the best projects in the field of communication in a total of 49 categories. Winners will be announced on 8 December, in Berlin.
