Grand PRix of the Croatian Association for Public Affairs (HUOJ) is a unique professional award, which celebrates excellence in the design and implementation of communication projects in Croatia.
HUOJ on 19 December 2016 announced a competition for the 10th Grand Prix awards, and entries are open until 31 January 2017.
Grand PRix has in recent years undergone a number of changes that are based on: experience and practice of the jury members, the needs of applicants and the market trends. Innovation and development of Grand PRix over the past six years resulted in the significant increase in the number of entered communication projects, so the last competition (in 2016) received a record 61 projects. This year organizers expect an even greater number of submitted projects.
This year’s competition brings new categories, so applicants can now enter their projects in 13 categories:
- Grand PRix for public relations in state authorities of the Republic of Croatia,
- Grand PRix for public relations in regional and local governments,
- Grand PRix for public relations in non-governmental sector,
- Grand PRix for public relations in large companies,
- Grand PRix for public relations in SMEs,
- Grand PRix for corporate social responsibility,
- Grand PRix for internal communication,
- Grand PRix for the best adaptation of a global campaign,
- Grand PRix for political communication,
- Grand PRix for digital communication,
- Grand PRix for event organization,
- Grand PRix for communication strategy, and
- Grand PRix for sponsored communication.
Grand PRix 2017 Jury, along with the 13 awards in the competition categories, will also award three special awards: Communicator of the Year, the Grand PRix for contribution to the profession, and the Šipak of the Year. Since 2016, a recognition for the most successful agency of Grand PRix is awarded to the agency which had the highest average score of all their entries that reach the finals.
The jury consists of 15 members who are experts of public relations in companies, agencies, public and non-governmental sector as well as representatives of science and higher education institutions where they teach courses of public relations.
Grand PRix 2017 Jury President is Daria Mateljak, director of the consulting firm Hauska & Partner and winner of the HUOJ award for contribution to the industry in 2015, while Vice President is Krešimir Macan, Director-General at Manjgura.
This year’s jury members, PR experts from reputable companies are: Marina Burazer, Director of Corporate Communications at INA Oil Industry, Martin Rizman Matić, Director of Corporate Communications at Vipnet, Davor Jakovac, head of internal communications of the Croatian Post, Dario Gabrić, Director of Corporate Communications at Erste&Steiermärkische Bank. Experts from PR agencies included in the jury are Diana Vetturelli, director of Vetturelli consulting, Maja Gradišar Perotić, adviser to the agency Media Val, and Martina Pintarić, director and partner at the agency 404. PR experts from the public and non-governmental sectors are Vlatka Vučić Marasović, assistant Head of the Office of the Mayor of Zadar County and Zadar County spokeswoman, Melita Pavlek, general secretary of the Croatian Association of Counties, Krešimir Dabo, director of the Ensemble Lado, Ivana Rora, director of the Homeland Headquarters of the Croatian World Congress in Zagreb and Martina Mihordin, spokeswoman for the Croatian State Prosecutor. The representative of science – or more precisely higher education institutions where public relations are studied – is Ksenija Žlof, head of public relations of Croatia Airlines, who from 2012 teaches at the Media University in Varaždin.
