Find out the answer to the question “Was there any online life before the Internet?” in a half-hour documentary story about the important people, organizations and events from the 20 years of the official history of internet in Serbia, and what preceded it.
Documentary “1 internet, 3 domene, 4 države” was created in cooperation of the Radio-Television Serbia and the Foundation “Register of National Internet Domains of Serbia” (RNIDS). The idea, script, research, documentation, interviews and executive production were done by Lazar Bošković, and the director was Pavle Grujičić.
Combining archival video and photo materials, statements of witnesses of these times and narration, documentary gives an overview of key dates and processes that marked the development of internet technology, local internet content, e-services and national internet domains, through a connection with the social changes in Serbia and world trends.
The story begins in the late eighties, when the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia received .yu internet domain and was linked to the European academic and research network. Groundbreaking date was 27 February, 1996, when the University Computer Centre in Belgrade linked the Academic Network on the internet, which was followed by the emergence of the commercial internet providers.
