The Croatian edition of the global race Wings for Life World Run will be held in Zadar, 8 May 2016, at 13:00 hours, and is expected to draw the most participants so far – as many as 7,000. Race starts at the same time throughout the world, regardless of time zones. The unusual concept of the race has introduced an intercept vehicle as a moving finish line that moves behind the runners, and at the moment when the vehicle overtakes the runner and scans the chip on their start number, the result is sent to the global rankings. The race is thus open to professionals and recreational athletes alike, as well as those who don’t deal with running at all, because everyone runs according to their own abilities.
Each year in the world over 130,000 people are diagnosed with spinal cord injuries, and millions of people live in a wheelchair. The entirety of money collected from entry fees and global sponsorships is invested in the Wings for Life Foundation, which funds cutting-edge research of the spinal cord at renowned institutes around the world.
A contract on the general sponsorship of the upcoming race in Croatia was signed Monday in Zagreb, between the representatives of the convergent operator Vipnet and organizational team of Wings for Life World Run.
On behalf of Vipnet, the contract was signed by Corporate Communications Director at Vipnet Martina Rizman Matić. “We are pleased that we have become part of the race Wings for Life World Run, in which thousands of people will run at the same time for those who can’t. Supporting this project will become a part of Vipnet’s socially responsible efforts and an excellent complement to our internal initiative ‘Do the right thing’. Vipnet’s employees themselves will participate in the Zadar race, and we have provided them a special training program,” Martina said.
