The Golden Drum Festival was created during the period, characterized by the opening of the Central and Eastern European economies to the free market. The rapid transfer of market-oriented knowledge from the West, was refined by the local traditions and features, which molded a unified mental and conceptual environment. The experience from the comparable environment was propitious for the development of the industry in the geographical entity which was then encouragingly referred to as the New Europe.
“The thirst for sustainable development and the economic crisis changed the attitude towards the economy in several democracies; however, on many CEE markets well- known concepts of growth and consumerism are still predominating”, says Mojca Briščik, the president of the Golden Drum Festival, and adds that Golden Drum strives to implement the new views and values by supporting and encouraging the exchange of the most creative ideas. “For the world of tomorrow, we have to be more risk oriented, encourage transparency while being aware that creativity in the broadest context can – when we sincerely believe in it – change our perception, way of thinking and acting”. This point of view is also embedded in the core principle of the 24th Golden Drum which invites participants to leave their mark.
