The American Institute for Graphic Design (AIGA) has included the Croatian book Hope among the 50 best designed book covers in the world. The list was created within the annual international selection in co-operation with the Design Observer, a magazine about design with a readership of a million. Hope will thus become part of the AIGA collection within the Library of rare books (Buttler Library) at Columbia University and the Robert Haas Arts Library at Yale University.
The book Hope by Adris Foundation and Bruketa&Žinić&Grey has a cover which reacts to touch and deals with projects in the fields of science, education and creativity which the Adris Foundation has supported over the past decade. “Presented in one place, in the book Hope, all these projects give hope that Croatia has a future and that’s why the book is touching, because the more it is used, the more hope there is,” said the agency’s Creative Director Davor Bruketa. Namely, on the cover of the book, after handling it, the word HOPE appears more and more visible. In addition, this project is a sort of time document because it has gathered 24 of the best Croatian illustrators.
Having received two Red Dot awards earlier this year, the most sought-after global accolades for the quality of design, the team of Bruketa&Žinić&Grey recently won two Hiibrand brand recognitions in China. The first one for the visual identity of the ŠUZA project, whereby the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb popularizes the STEM area among children and young people, and the second one for Chiavalon gift packaging. Until November 25th, their design solutions, among which are the book Hope and Chiavalon packaging, can be viewed at the Croatian Design Exhibition, in Zagreb’s Museum of Arts and Crafts.
