Two Croatian starters, FramesPage and HexaWorx, joined forces to deliver prescription glasses – via drone delivery. The use of these autonomous aircraft for commercial purposes is currently under development and, although their application is increasingly coming to the Croatian market, the law in Croatia is such that drones cannot yet be used for autonomous flights at long distances.
A common case of drone use in Croatia is for air photography and for photo and video production, and is increasingly frequent in construction inspection, geodesy, border control as well as in agriculture. The product delivery is controversial due to the fact that people don’t want devices with cameras flying over their heads, but, as we are told from HexaWorx, everything that flies can also fall.
“A drone is still just an electronic device that can, at any time and without notice, decide to change its direction or stop working. Battery limitations are currently the biggest challenge in the development of drone delivery. Some of the potential additional problems are that people could also easily down a low flying drone – either out of fun, or to gain something,” said the team behind this project.
Whether you think this type of delivery is fun, or you believe it breaches the boundaries of privacy, take a look at how HexaWorx and FramesPage delivered glasses for promotional purposes.
FramesPage also added: “Our laws are such that drones cannot be used for delivery purposes, but if and when the situation changes, we will be ready. All who are interested will be able to receive our glasses via drone delivery.”
