The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Croatia will issue a public call for design of visual identity and slogan of the Republic of Croatia’s presidency of the EU Council in 2020, which will be conducted by the Croatian Design Association (HDD). The competition will be published on 29 March 2018, with complete tender documentation at www.dizajn.hr, www.mvep.hr and www.min-kulture.hr. All interested authors and teams can apply for participation in the competition as invited competitors. The deadline for receipt of applications for participation in the competition is 12:00hrs on 26 March 2018.
Theme and goal of the competition
The aim of the competition is to adopt the visual identity and slogan of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will provide the basis for systematic information and public communication ahead of the presidency and during its term. The Republic of Croatia will assume the role of the Chair of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2020. The Presidency of the Council of the EU allows Croatia to show its culture, art, history, science, natural beauty and resources, human wealth – all that makes its national identity – by organizing a series of events in Croatia, EU Member States and the entire world. Cultural and promotional events will be organized in Croatia, Brussels and Strasbourg, some EU member states, in cities where international organizations are headquartered, and countries of strategic priority for Croatia and HRPRES2020. More than 200 events will be organized in Croatia.
The overall approach to communication is based on openness, transparency and the provision of accurate and relevant information. The proposals of the visual identity system should provide a recognizable, consistent and contemporary form for the implementation of the HRPRES2020 Communication Strategy at all stages of the campaign and in all media.
Visual identity should support the message on Croatia’s belonging to the European cultural and civilization circle, and its overall readiness to be an equal and constructive member of the modern European Union. Visual identity should be recognizably Croatian in the contemporary European context.
The slogan that will follow HRPRES2020 should be clear, memorable and appealing and address the wide domestic and foreign public.
The slogan communication tone should be based on a rational and measured performance. The slogan should summarize the main messages of HRPRES2020.
The visual identity and slogan will be used on information and promotion materials of HRPRES2020 and in media (social networks, radio, TV, print, outdoor advertising, internet).
The authors and creative teams interested in participating should submit a request for participation in the competition at: natjecaji@dizajn.hr, with the title: NATJEČAJ HRPRES2020, no later than March 26, 2018, by 12:00hrs.
