Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB) presented the collaboration of this leading scientific and research institution in Croatia with Atlantic Group, on the development of a new product in the category of vitamin supplements. Within the partnership, IRB will participate in the formulation and technological-design improvement of the new product. The project is partly funded by EU funds. Atlantic Group and IRB have been approved a grant of HRK 10 million for its implementation with the purpose of stimulating demanding research and development activities, while the total value of the investment for the development of new low calorie vitamin drinks is over HRK 19 million.
“What makes this step in the development of the product special is the collaboration with the experts of the most prominent scientific institution in the Republic of Croatia – the Ruđer Bošković Institute, and a successful withdrawing of EU grants for the project, which is a practice that we all would like to see more in Croatia,” said the Chairman of Atlantic Group Emil Tedeschi.
Two departments of the institute are included in the collaboration with Cedevita: the Department of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Molecular Medicine. Co-operation will be realized through two phases that will include industrial research and experimental development of the new product. An interdisciplinary research team from IRB, consisting of a total of 12 scientists from the field of chemistry, molecular biology and biomedicine, will participate in the project, and their activities will be based on three separate modules that deal with analysis and formulation of a new product.
