We live in an exciting age of social media and influencer marketing. Older brothers of event management – PR and marketing have embraced these new tools and are successfully utilizing them, and how are these new tools used in event management?
Are event managers in line with new technologies? I would say that they are not only in line with new technologies, but also the leaders of the same, curious researchers who with each new event have the task of pushing the boundaries and offering something new, something exclusive and something “shareable”. A shift in event goals was made from number of attendies and coverage in media to number of social media post regarding that event. It is no longer about who appeared, it is important who published it.
To maximise number of social media posts about the event, the key is in following:
Before the event
Create a short and cathy # where you will communicate the event; that is also a useful tool for quantitative analysis of event goals and gives you the ability to have a gallery of photos from the event, also you can use it for other activations such as live feed on screens during the event, stacking a special photo album for later on or for a prize competition.
Make a buzz about the event using influencers and their social networks by publishing posts using the default #; Be creative with ideas around the teaser phase, but keep a simple mechanism for activating the followers for greater efficiency and in this way ensure even greater reach.
Take advantage of social media event channels – let your channels be the first source of event information in a more interactive way.
During the event
Set up an interactive photo corner in the venue for guests to publish easely; whether it’s a classic corner with photo booths or multimedia intervention in the venue – the corner must be interactive and attract your guests to want to be photographed in it.
Set the tags for # of the event in visible places.
Thanks to many useful applications, you can listen to the audience during the event and respond to their wishes, primarily during conferences where you can show live Twitter wall with comments or use the Sli.do application that provides a simple interaction with your audience; Allow audiences to become co-creators of your program.
After the event
Transmit the news of the held event to a broader audience using social networks, create the desired content, and ensure that the event is a place to be for the next year.
Answer questions posted by apps.
Make your social networks become a platform through which participants can stay in touch.
It is clear for all of us that social networks are here to stay and that trend will continue to dominate for some time making a cornerstone of today’s events. Invited guests decide whether to go or not to the event based on the insight on who is reporting to participate. Take advantage of all the benefits that social networks provide and turn them into the media that works for you. Introduce your event to the invitees using new technologies and apps to tell your story in an innovative way and of course do not forget to share.
