The All England Lawn Tennis Club has presented a global campaign for Wimbledon 2026, ahead of the 139th edition of the tournament, which will be held from June 29 to July 12.
The new campaign is titled Where beauty meets the battle and represents the second chapter of the There Is Only One Wimbledon platform, developed in cooperation with agency VCCP. Instead of the expected view of players, stands or tournament tradition, the film tells the story from the perspective of a Holly Blue butterfly moving through the grounds of Wimbledon.
In the 60-second film, the calm of manicured lawns, flowers and the recognizable atmosphere of an English garden is interrupted by powerful shots, fast serves and the intensity of play on Centre Court. The contrast is simple, but precise: Wimbledon as a place of beauty, order and tradition, but also an arena where players enter the toughest battles for victory.
The film was directed by Sanjay de Silva, produced by Division Global, with production support from Girl&Bear. The narration is provided by Annabel Croft, former British tennis player and television commentator, who describes Wimbledon in the campaign as tennis in an English garden.
The inspiration for the creative idea came from an anecdote involving former French tennis player Henri Leconte. During a match at Wimbledon in 1986, a butterfly landed near him as he was preparing to serve. Instead of chasing it away, Leconte picked it up, carried it on his racket towards the crowd and let it fly into the stands.
The film also features Alfie Hewett, one of the most successful players in the history of wheelchair tennis. His participation carries additional symbolism, as wheelchair tennis marks 50 years of existence this year.
Usama Al-Qassab, Marketing and Commercial Director at The All England Lawn Tennis Club, said the campaign celebrates what makes Wimbledon special: the combination of top sporting performance, tradition, emotion and the beauty of the space in which everything takes place.
The campaign will run globally on television, social media and OOH formats, with media placements across international broadcasters and platforms including BBC, ESPN, Eurosport, Amazon Prime in Germany and Channel Nine in Australia.
In a summer marked by major sporting events, Wimbledon continues with this film to build its own space beyond the tournament itself. It does not rely only on the sporting result, but on an atmosphere that few events can repeat: the silence of the garden, the tension of the serve and a butterfly that suddenly finds itself in the middle of the battle.
