What Happens When an Audiobook Changes the Course of an Entire Day

The global Stories That Speak to You campaign follows moments in which an audiobook changes the course of an ordinary day, from a workout that unexpectedly runs long to fatherhood shaped by a healthier routine.

A short run ends as a marathon. The listener passes through rural landscapes, a party and an abandoned wasteland without once removing his headphones or interrupting the story that has taken him much farther than he planned. In its new global campaign, Audible has positioned this loss of the sense of time as one of the most recognizable effects of a good listening experience.

The Stories That Speak to You campaign has already launched in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Australia. Mexico and Brazil will follow later this month, Japan by the end of the year, while the launch in India is planned for 2027.

At the center of the campaign are two films directed by Megaforce. The first follows a runner who becomes so absorbed in an audiobook that he fails to notice his short workout has turned into a full marathon. The second moves away from surreal humor and follows a new father for whom listening becomes an incentive to develop healthier habits and a more present relationship with his child. In this case, the change does not happen in the imagined world of the story, but in the listener’s schedule, behavior and everyday family life.

The films are part of a broader media rollout spanning social and digital channels, audio formats, OOH, DOOH and activations. The outdoor photography was shot by Olivia Malone, while the visual executions feature portraits of listeners alongside elements of the Audible player, a playback progress bar and the message Read as many books as you can hear.

Among the campaign’s most prominent announced locations are London’s King’s Cross Station, Melbourne’s Spencer Street tram station and retail locations in São Paulo. Rather than illustrating the worlds of individual books, the outdoor work remains focused on the face of the person listening, allowing facial expressions and the passage of time on the screen to suggest what is happening behind the headphones.

Stories That Speak to You is the first campaign created by Audible’s new in-house creative team, developed in collaboration with the marketing department and agency Special Group. The campaign continues the global positioning introduced in 2024 through the There’s More to Imagine When You Listen platform, but this time shifts attention from the imagination sparked by a story to its influence on the listener’s behavior and mood.

The new work also accompanies the expansion of Audible’s offering, from original series, journalism and newly interpreted classics to large-scale productions featuring ensemble casts. The company is simultaneously introducing synchronized reading and listening, along with AI-powered search and recommendations. Across large urban surfaces, however, everything returns to the simplest image: a face wearing headphones and a playback bar showing how much time passed before the listener looked around.
