UEPS presents their annual awards for 2017 1

The ceremony on the occasion of the 57th birthday of the oldest national professional association in Serbia gathered a large number of distinguished guests and awarded recognitions to the best marketers in 2017.

With this celebration of best works in 2017, the Association of Market Communications of Serbia – UEPS concluded the year in which it continued the process of innovation in order to strengthen and raise the reputation of professionals through active two-way communication with everyone in this business.

This year, 15 gold, 20 silver and 28 bronze awards were awarded in 17 categories and 21 subcategories, including awards for best copy, art director, music and directing.

Veljko Golubović, president of the jury this year who was absent due to business obligations, commented in a written statement on this year’s entries:

“The jury had the opportunity to look at a really impressive number of works, which speaks in favor of the stability of the Serbian advertising scene, which, in spite of many adverse factors, still has the power to create quality communications.

Like every year, a lot of new, fresh and original things were found in the large number of works. I’m sure this year’s Jury recognized it and valued it properly. Was there enough of such works? I think there were more than we could expect.

In a way, the entries reflected the situation in the Serbian economy, so some categories, such as TV spots or OOH, have had a lot of reported works, and again in the categories related to the creation of a new brand or design there was a negligible number of entries.

The aim of the jury was to evaluate objectively and professionally ideas according to clear criteria and to focus our assessment on the work itself, which is supported by the UEPS administration.

What I want to point out is a noticeable shift in the preparation of the submitted works, the way of presenting ideas in relation to previous years. Such an approach is useful for both agencies and jury. Of course, everything will be better year after year. This is just the beginning.”

Among the presented awards was the one established last year, the “Discovery” award, which went to the portal and Facebook page “Kultiviši se”, as part of the support to those who do not deal with professional communication per se, but in a certain way address the public with their original initiatives.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the president of the Board of UEPS, Viktor Nikolić, CEO of Beoexpo System, summed up the association’s activities during the year. He pointed out that the results were achieved through a positive synergy of all members in the Board and the Association.

Jana Savić Rastovac, creative director at McCann Belgrade and vice president of the jury, briefly reflected on the works, welcoming the initiative of the Association to have creators assess the quality of entries.

The awards were presented by the President of the Board of UEPS and the members of the jury. Aleksandar Gajović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture and Information of Serbia, director Stanko Crnobrnja, celebrity host Tamara Grujić, editor-in-chief of Radio Belgrade Radoman Kanjevac, and Ekrem Dupanović, editor-in-chief of Media Marketing. The Grand Prix was presented by last year’s winner of the award – Dejan Nedić.

In addition, Lzar and Žarko Sakan, who continue their father’s legacy of ideas, have traditionally awarded the “Dragan Sakan” prize, and this year, with a performance of sorts, they gave recognition to all the previous marketing creators.
