T-Mobile has divided responsibility for the brand’s future development between two new agency partners and its own creative studio. The changes, announced on November 2, reflect the American company’s ambition to expand beyond mobile services, also giving marketing the task of building relevance in other industries.
Agency Anomaly has been appointed to handle that part of the work and will develop an enterprise-wide brand strategy with the leadership team. Its task will be to determine how T-Mobile’s existing positioning can support entry into new areas of business while preserving the distinctiveness the brand has established in the mobile communications market.
Khara Wagner, Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Anomaly Los Angeles, described the assignment as work on a strategy that needs to transform what the brand stands for so it can expand into areas where it has not previously been present. This gives the agency a remit that extends beyond developing individual campaigns: it encompasses the relationship between the company’s future business and the meaning of its brand.
Advertising has been entrusted to Highdive, which has been named the lead creative agency. It will lead creative strategy and the development of integrated campaigns, from brand-building communications and product and service storytelling to conversion-focused advertising. Through this partnership, T-Mobile expects to connect long-term brand equity with measurable business results.
Alongside the new agency appointments, the company is also investing in its own T-Studios. By introducing AI tools, it aims to accelerate content development, simplify production processes and enable a greater number of adaptations. According to the announcement, this way of working should give creative teams more room for strategy, innovation and storytelling.
Lucy McLellan, Executive Vice President and Chief Brand & Communications Officer at T-Mobile, linked these decisions to the company’s efforts to expand the brand’s possibilities through a combination of strategic and creative expertise and artificial intelligence. In the announcement, she emphasised creative ambition as a continuation of the company’s established approach, while the way the work will be organised and carried out is changing.
The production investment also addresses how information about the brand is found. T-Mobile plans to develop and update content more continuously so that its products and services are accurately represented in AI-powered search, digital assistants and on emerging platforms. The in-house studio’s role therefore also includes adapting content for the channels through which users increasingly find information and consider the company’s offering.
