The truck is the goal, but Facebook sells everything that happens before it

In the film Summer Jobs, a search on Marketplace sends Gracie into a series of summer jobs, while presenting Facebook once again as a platform where digital contact moves into real life.

Gracie spots the truck she wants on Facebook Marketplace, but cannot afford it at that moment. The series of jobs she then finds through the platform sets the story of Summer Jobs in motion and introduces the broader campaign message through which Meta continues building a new brand communication for Facebook.

The campaign was developed by the agency Droga5, based on the idea that users come to Facebook with a specific intention, but often find more than the ad, group or video they initially searched for. The platform is therefore presented as a place from which jobs, communities, social encounters and real-life experiences emerge.

The 90-second film Summer Jobs was directed by Mark Molloy from the production company SMUGGLER, while Drew Daniels served as director of photography. The film follows Gracie as she tries to earn enough money for the truck, but her summer pursuit primarily serves as an illustration of the campaign platform Find More Than What You’re Looking For.

The accompanying films Joyride, Garage Band and Book Club, directed by Rory Wood, bring the same idea to other parts of Facebook. A single search, interest or contact becomes the beginning of an encounter, a shared activity or a new opportunity.

Additional social media content features creators talking about finding free furniture in Buy Nothing groups, local places and occasional jobs on Marketplace. The campaign therefore does not try to present the platform as a space where users should remain, but as a tool that sets something in motion beyond the screen.

Meta will also bring the idea to Marketplace itself. The first special listing will feature a truck inspired by the film and equipped for a summer road trip, while additional vehicles adapted for activities such as camping, outdoor adventures and fishing are planned throughout the season.

The campaign coincides with the tenth anniversary of Facebook Marketplace. From July 23 to 25, a pop-up dedicated to the platform’s most popular categories will be held in Los Angeles, including cars, fashion, electronics, furniture and home décor. On the final day, the program will be open to the public, with workshops and giveaways.

Following its return to major brand advertising last fall, Facebook is now trying to define its role more precisely. In the new campaign, the platform’s value lies not only in the content users see, but in the people, opportunities and experiences that content can lead them to.
