The Slovenian Advertising Festival (SOF) this year brings one of the most recognizable European interpreters of the digital age, whose work increasingly shapes how companies understand younger generations and changes in the digital economy.

Philipp Riederle, an author, researcher and strategic consultant based in the United Kingdom, is coming to SOF as one of the key speakers of the program, bringing a perspective that connects sociology, economics and concrete business implications of digital transformation.

Riederle is recognized as one of the most relevant European visionaries when it comes to Generations Y and Z, their values and the ways in which they influence markets, work and consumption. His work focuses on digital transformation, platform power and the political economy of the internet, with a particular emphasis on how younger generations are redefining expectations toward brands and organizations.

He gained broader visibility through books on digital society and generational change, including the bestseller Wer wir sind und was wir wollen, which was featured on the SPIEGEL bestseller list for non-fiction titles in Germany. Alongside his academic work, he has built a reputation as one of the key “translators” between digital generations and organizations seeking to understand their expectations.

In his consulting work, he has collaborated with more than 450 international companies, focusing on one of the central questions of contemporary marketing and management, how to attract, motivate and retain younger generations as customers and employees. His approach combines a theoretical framework with concrete strategies applicable in a business context, which is why it is used by both companies and institutions, including government organizations.

At SOF, he will speak as part of the lecture Internet: Who Really Owns the Internet Today?, which will take place on May 14 at 15:00. The focus of the lecture will be on the transformation of the internet from an open space into a system dominated by platforms, algorithms and digital intermediaries that determine visibility and access to users.

Through this talk, Riederle will offer insight into how this concentration of power emerged, why it is crucial for all brands and companies that want to remain relevant, and how organizations can reduce their dependence on platforms and regain control over their own digital presence.

His arrival further confirms this year’s SOF focus on topics that go beyond the boundaries of traditional marketing, opening questions of power, visibility and control in a digital environment that increasingly defines business results.
