On the heels of Old Spice’s much buzzed-about surprise French spot “Red Sweater” that premiered during the Grammys, and just in time for the Valentine’s Day, the brand continues their “Make scents … for men” campaign with two follow-up spots, “Marco Love-O” and “Mask”.
The new spots continue the concept of parodying over-the-top luxury fragrance ads, proving that premium scents don’t have to come in fancy bottles with fancy price tags!
In the 30-second “Marco Love-O” we follow a couple playing the traditional “Marco – Polo” game of hide and seek with a twist. A beautiful woman in a long red dress runs through a fancy darkened palace, calling out “Old”. In response, a handsome, tuxedo-wearing man emerges from behind a fancy statue, returning her haunting call with “Spice”. In the end, “Old” and “Spice” find each other, proving that there’s no need to chase the premium scent that you desire.
“Mask” is the shorter of the two new spots and promotes the brands 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and other hair products, again mimicking the luxury ads with a humorous “unmasking” of the main protagonist.
