For years, content creators have been one of the main reasons why Minecraft grew beyond the boundaries of a video game and became a global cultural phenomenon. Now, the company is looking to turn that relationship into a structured business model.

The best-selling video game of all time has launched its first affiliate program, allowing creators to earn commissions when their content leads to purchases of selected digital products within the Minecraft ecosystem.

The program was developed in partnership with impact.com, a platform specializing in partnership and affiliate program management. Through a unified system, Minecraft will be able to track performance, manage partner relationships, and reward creators based on concrete business results.

The move comes at a time when the line between influencer marketing and performance marketing is becoming increasingly blurred. Rather than measuring creator partnerships solely through views, likes, or impressions, brands are looking for models that can demonstrate a direct impact on sales.

That is the logic behind the new program. Creators will use unique affiliate links that can be integrated into video content, QR codes, websites, or other formats. When users purchase eligible products through those links, creators receive a commission starting at five percent.

The program covers products such as skins, texture packs, mini-games, and adventure maps available through the Minecraft Marketplace. Subscriptions, persona items, and the game itself are not included in the rewards system.

For Minecraft, whose community includes hundreds of millions of players and thousands of active content creators, the initiative represents an attempt to turn existing organic promotion into a measurable growth channel. The program is not limited to content creators alone. Publishers, educators, and partners developing content for the Minecraft Marketplace will also be able to participate.

According to David A. Yovanno, CEO of impact.com, the goal is to enable creators to turn their influence into tangible business results without compromising the authenticity of the community that has helped build the game’s popularity over the years.

The broader picture suggests that Minecraft is far from an isolated case. A growing number of companies are developing their own models to formalize relationships with creators, while the gaming industry searches for ways to better connect communities, content, and commercial outcomes. Recently, Roblox also introduced its own platform for connecting brands and creators through the Brand Link program.

For marketers, perhaps the most interesting takeaway is that creators are increasingly becoming more than just a media channel. They are evolving into partners in the sales process. Instead of one-off campaigns, companies are building systems in which recommendations, content, and sales are connected within a single ecosystem.
