The creative process rarely has a clear beginning and end. One idea opens the door to another, a completed task becomes the beginning of a new one, and what seemed like a final solution just a few minutes ago suddenly calls for another revision. For programmers, designers, artists and game developers, this way of working often means hours spent switching between different programs, large files and increasingly demanding projects. The problem arises when the computer can no longer keep up with their pace.
It is precisely this relationship between creative ambition and technological capabilities that the new campaign by Microsoft Windows explores, developed in collaboration with Droga5 New York, part of Accenture Song. Titled What Will You Do With All This Power?, the campaign introduces a new generation of Windows laptops powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark technology, with the film Obsession Comes Around at its center.
Instead of the usual presentation of technical specifications, the campaign follows people who become so dedicated to their projects that they keep returning to develop them further. The camera circles around the protagonists, and each return to the starting point reveals something new. Projects have progressed, ideas have become more complex, and their creators are already thinking about the next step. The same space, the same people, but the work is never at the same stage.
The film was directed by Ryan Chun of production company magna, and its visual structure relies on continuous camera orbits. This movement also becomes a storytelling device: each rotation marks a new phase of work, while the pace of the creative process gradually accelerates. Rather than talking about how fast a computer is, the film attempts to show what happens when technology can keep up with someone who never stops creating.
Additional rhythm comes from a new interpretation of the well-known American song She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain, performed by Anna Graceman. The lyrics have been adapted to the creative process, while the repetition in the music follows the circular movement of the camera. In this way, the visual and audio elements rely on the same idea, a continuous return that brings something different each time.
Cristina Reina, chief creative experience officer at Droga5 NY/Americas, explains that the starting point for the campaign was the curiosity that leads creators from one idea to another, until they become completely immersed in developing it. The goal was to show what becomes possible when a computer has enough power to keep up with their imagination. That is why, from the music to the camera movements, the entire film revolves around creative obsession.
The campaign will run across the US on television, streaming platforms, social media and digital channels, alongside collaborations with content creators and media partners. The commercial is also scheduled to air during the NFL’s Monday Night Football.
This is the second joint campaign by the Windows creative team and Droga5, following the Doppelmode project, and a continuation of the broader collaboration between Microsoft and the agency across three brands. This time, technological power is not presented as a goal in itself, but as an opportunity for the creative process to continue for as long as the idea demands.
