Carlsberg Turned a Billboard Into a Beer Pouring Station

Instead of talking about the quality of its beer, Carlsberg gave passersby the opportunity to judge it for themselves.

Outdoor advertising rarely asks people to stop. Even more rarely does it give them the opportunity to directly try the product it promotes. That is the idea behind a new activation by Carlsberg Croatia, which transformed one of its most famous slogans into a physical experience.

In Koprivnica, the company installed a billboard from which passersby can pour themselves a glass of beer, giving a traditional advertising space a completely different function. Instead of delivering a one-way message, the installation invites the audience into the product experience and blurs the line between media and product sampling.

The activation is built around the slogan “Probably the best beer in the world”, which has long been one of the brand’s most recognizable communication assets. Rather than further explaining or arguing for the product’s quality, the campaign is based on a simple premise: letting consumers make that judgment themselves.

Koprivnica was chosen as the starting point of the project because it is home to the brewery of Carlsberg Croatia. The first symbolic beer pouring was marked by Dario Bodulica, President of the Management Board of the company, and Mišel Jakšić, Mayor of Koprivnica, after which the installation was opened to the public.

This approach is part of a broader trend in which brands seek to transform traditional media formats into experiences that people can photograph, share on social media, and actively engage with. In this case, the billboard is no longer simply a carrier of a message but becomes a space for interaction and content in its own right.

According to the company, the installation will be placed at additional locations across Croatia throughout the summer, continuing to connect experiential marketing with one of advertising’s oldest formats.
