This is not the first time that MESS coincides with major political or global events. Last year the theme was the tragic fate of Altamira, the destruction of a cultural and civilizational monument of humanity. This year the focus is on a globally important topic – presidential elections in the United States, but also our local “festival of democracy” in the form of local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
And both are marked by identical characteristics – narcissism, exclusivity, intolerance, divisiveness, inequality, nationalism, inciting fear and distrust, and ultimately an uncertain future.
This symbol of the current political moment is embodied in the main character of these very serious global performances with an uncertain end, a blue and yellow billionaire and a serious candidate for president of the United States, Donald Trump.
Fabrika again showed remarkable sensitivity to the zeitgeist and moved the message of a regional festival to a global level.
