For the fifth consecutive year, Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Dubrovnik PartneR agency are organizing the Dubrovnik FestiWine – the wine festival week which will bring together many wine-makers and those who intend to become one, with the support of faithful sponsors and partners of the festival.
The jubilee wine anniversary is once again in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik, and it brings with it new unforgettable experiences and socializing of prominent representatives of the winemaking trade from the south of Croatia, as well as from abroad! Organizers have prepared a rich program where everyone can find something for themselves. The festival begins with the Dubrovnik Wine Week, where citizens of Dubrovnik and guests of the city can visit restaurants and wine bars labeled Wine Friendly, tasting top quality wines which perfectly blend with fine delicacies of the Dubrovnik area.
The central event is the wine exhibition of this year’s Dubrovnik Festiwine, which will take place Friday and Saturday, 20 and 21 April 2018, in the beautiful setting of Sunset Beach in Lapad Bay. During the wine exhibition, along with meetings of wine professionals with winemakers, there will be lectures and wine tastings, as well as very attractive wine and culinary workshops such as the Gault & Millau masterclass by the Japanese chef Ippei Uemura and the Sparkling Table salon of sparkling wines.
“This is our fifth gathering, and it is our pleasure to have this festival that continues the positive strategy of development of winemaking trade in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. We have great wines and we need to better present them to the local public, international public, and our tourists,” said Nikola Dobroslavić, County Prefect of Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
“The city of Dubrovnik is known as a city of excellence and a champion in tourism, and it continues to go forward in everything it does, including in gastronomy, but also in good wines. The aim is to promote the products of the Dubrovnik – Neretva County, and we particularly emphasize our wines that are of exceptionally high quality and can stand next to the world’s best wines. That is why I am extremely honored to support this excellent idea and I believe we will have more resources in the future to make this festival even more successful,” said Mato Frankovic, the mayor of the City of Dubrovnik.
In addition to the above-mentioned events, traditionally during Dubrovnik FestiWine there is the blind tasting and selection of wines that best fits with the autochthonous delicacy – Ston oysters. Along with the popular Blind date: In love with Ston Oysters, the Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy will also be held – a wine rating in which the internationally recognized jury, made up of domestic and foreign judges, enologists, led by the president of the Jury Bojan Kobal, selects the best wines of the festival.
Another attraction of the festival is the gastro spectacle of the Dubrovnik FestiWine Gala Dinner, which will be held on April 19th, 2018 at the Excelsior Hotel, which will present the creative cuisine of young but proven chefs: Igor Jagodic and his host chef Petar Obad, along with the seven winners of last year’s festival. As in the past years, the overall proceeds of the event are intended for scholarships of young talents from the field of culinary arts.
Come to Dubrovnik FestiWine, meet with diligent winemakers, try fine wines, join interesting workshops and lectures and find out everything you ever wanted to know about wines – because it’s time for wine!
