The most important event of Slovenian communication profession brings significant changes in the year in which it marks its 25th anniversary. It’s moving to a new location in the center of Portorož (Kempinski Hotel) and presents a revamped competitive program that offers 13 categories, including two brand new ones – Grand Prix for Social Good and award for craft excellence ON SOF. An important new feature of this year’s competition program is the method of selecting the jury. Nine-member jury, led by Ana Ivandič, will award the best works of the Slovenian advertising industry. Applications are ongoing and will end on 11 March.
In today’s multitude of media, mediocre stories get lost in the flood of lookalikes, and people have no problem avoiding messages that they are not interested in. This year’s SOF says it’s time for new success stories. “I believe that a large part of every success is the message, story and content. But even a very good story will not be successful on its own if it doesn’t have the correct media, or rather a storyteller. A good storyteller knows how to tell an interesting story, to the right public and at the right time,” said the president of this year’s SOF, Dolores Podbevšek Noble, Marketing Director at Delo.
Jury selection method changed
The composition of the jury and the appointment of the president of the jury this year was done quite different than in previous years. The entire jury was invited by the Council of the competition program, which was expanded to nine members this year, precisely because of this responsibility. To the jury were invited those who create communication solutions in Slovenia, as well as individuals with international experience who live and work outside Slovenia, and where their work is becoming very successful.
Nine-member jury, which will be led by Ana Ivandić, Director of Marketing and Creative Services at Edition Digital, includes: creator of stories Branimir Brkljač; Samo Geršak, Creative Director at the agency Luna TBWA; Uroš Goričan, Creative Director at Publicis Groupe Slovenia; Anže Jereb, Executive Creative Director at the agency BBDO Ukraine and a board member of ADC*UA; Žare Kerin, Creative Director at Futura DDB; Petra Krulc, Executive Creative Director at the agency Grey; Slavimir Stojanović, a designer of visual communication in the studio Futro; and Jernej Špende, digital strategist at agency Pristop. Changes in the competition program will also bring greater autonomy and at the same time greater responsibility of the jury and its members. SOF in this way stands alongside the most international festivals.
