Bruno Bertelli is the Global Chief Creative Officer for Publicis Worldwide. The most awarded Italian creative says there is a lot of passion in the world, and since “passion is contagious” all we need to do to find inspiration is just look around us and find something with a great story or an inspirational person.
At the 24th Golden Drum International Festival of Creativity, which will be held 18 to 20 October in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Bruno will preside over the Best Piece Jury, where he will seek for sharp strategies and killer executions. In addition to this, Bruno will hold a lecture on Advertising and Music, which he says is a passionate love affair.
Media Marketing: You have amassed a great number of awards at the world’s biggest festivals of creativity. Right now there are hot debates about the importance of awards and festivals. But how important are awards for creatives in your opinion?
Bruno Bertelli: Awards and festivals are fun for any creative and they are important, especially for young talent. But my goal is to make award-winning work for the big players. It’s more rewarding when you manage to do your best work on your biggest clients.
Media Marketing: Where do you find inspiration for your work? What is it that drives you in this industry?
Bruno Bertelli: Mostly movies and books. Anything with a great story. Inspirational people drive me. My job takes me all over the world to meet the network’s agencies. There is a lot of passion and passion is contagious.
Media Marketing: Do you have a favourite campaign, one that you believe hit all the marks?

Media Marketing: You are a regular in juries at festivals across the world, and this year you will chair the Best Piece Jury at the Golden Drum. What is it that makes a campaign catch your eye?
Bruno Bertelli: Creativity for the sake of creativity isn’t enough to impress me. I look for the sweet spot of a sharp strategy brought to life with killer execution.
Media Marketing: You will hold a lecture Advertising and Music: A Passionate Love Affair at this year’s Golden Drum. What is your lecture about
Bruno Bertelli: My talk will focus on the power of music to get consumers to listen to the message. Beyond a feel good, music can have strategic roles in ads and I will present the opportunities.
