WPP’s merger spree is gathering pace with a decision to unite Wunderman, Possible and Cole & Weber within a single Wunderman Thompson Seattle office – mere months after the coming together of J. Walter Thompson and Wunderman.
A direct extension of that earlier deal the latest unification will see the Seattle offices of each agency operating under a single banner, all housed within Possible’s former global headquarters, from 29 March.
Wunderman Thompson North America chief executive officer Shane Atchison said: “This is part of the same narrative [chief executive] Mark Read has set for WPP, with the agencies combining their creative, technology, analytics and commerce capabilities on behalf of our clients. Wunderman Thompson Seattle combines three brands that each have deep roots in creativity, data and technology to create a new kind of agency that truly stands apart from the rest.”
Following the switch, Wunderman Thompson New York will serve as the global HQ for the combined business, with Possible retaining its own distinct brand identity for key clients such as AT&T, Microsoft and VW.
WPP is in the midst of a significant restructuring following a 30% drop in profits and the loss of key clients.
