Wherever we turn these days we can find news and articles about phones ruining our lives, and their devastating influence on humanity.
UK telecommunications brand decided to stand up to the “haters”, and prove to them that “Phones are Good” with a new campaign by Wieden+Kennedy London. In the ad, the agency revisits some historic events to show how different things would have been had the phones been around at the time.
Would Titanic have happened? Would Eve be tempted by the snake and the apple if she had something else on her mind?
Basically, the ad just wants to remind us how good we have it compared to what we had before. It just does it in a way that might rub some people the wrong way, and it ignores some of the more serious objections that “haters” have for the smartphone age by focusing only on the superfluous benefits we enjoy today. Still, we must admit that it brought a chuckle or two to our faces.
