The Chiavalon family from Vodnjan is probably the most awarded producer of extra virgin olive oils in Croatia, and their “Ex Albis” olive oil is among the top 25 extra virgin olive oils in the world from organic farming. Their packaging design also rarely goes unnoticed by the world’s professional public. Given the worldwide reputation they have achieved, the Chiavalon family has decided to use their brand to promote Istria as well, and recently they launched a special gift edition with an interesting souvenir format. Each bottle became a miniature traditional Istrian house with illustrations inspired by art.
“We are creating in Istria, building on the idea of merging old customs, modern technology and art as a vision for the future,” said Tedi Chiavalon, pointing out that the ideal design of the packaging looks like a combination of a specific historical heritage and art that permeates every inch of Istria.
“In recent years, Vodnjan has become specific for its vibrant art scene and murals that decorate its houses, and this was an inspiration for the design, as for the illustrations on the packaging, apart from the murals, they also symbolize the film and the music as the arts by which Istria is well-known,” said Nebojša Cvetković, Art Director of Bruketa&Žinić&Grey, agency behind this project, while Sanja Rotter was responsible for product design. The authors hope that, in addition to helping spread the stories about Vodnjan and Istria around the world, these packages could also become a new Istrian souvenir.
