Collaboration between Studio Sonda and sporting equipment producer Elan on designing women’s collection of skis has been ongoing for 10 years now.
Initially focusing exclusively on graphics solutions, in 2010 they started jointly working on development of the “LightSkiing” concept, which aims to create significant differentiation in the market of women’s skis.
Teamwork between Studio Sonda, Elan’s R&D department and Elan W Studio (in which women share what are their needs when it comes to skiing) is resulting in technological advancements of skis that are adapted to the specific needs of female physiognomy, while the use of new materials makes them physically easier to carry. Graphic design also evolved from purely aesthetic to solutions that are in the service functionality, ie potentiation of new technologies.
The new Elan W Studio collection for season 17/18, designed by Studio Sonda, was presented at the ISPO MUNICH 2017 – the largest festival of sports equipment in the world. LightSkiing concept is a fundamental determinant of these skis, designed for the specific needs of female population.
